About This Role

The Product Growth - Instructor role is an opportunity for an experienced product professional to help us define and spread the future of the function. You will become the face and voice of our professional education programs on the Product Growth track including the Growth Series, Advanced Growth Strategy, and Retention & Engagement Deep Dive.

Our programs are highly selective. You will be a center of influence for emerging and existing leaders within the fastest growing technology companies. Our participants include experienced practitioners from Facebook, Google, Airbnb, Slack, HubSpot, and many more.

You'll be joining as part of the foundational team of a profitable proven startup, doubling seven figure revenue year over year, that is led by experienced entrepreneurs. In addition, you will be integrated into our community of subject matter experts include the leaders behind building companies like Slack, Pinterest, CreditKarma, ClassPass, ipsy, Eventbrite, SurveyMonkey, Thumbtack, and more.

Reforge was founded by Brian Balfour (former VP Growth @ HubSpot, 3X venture backed founder) and includes key advisors (Andrew Chen, Managing Partner @ Andreesen Horowitz, former growth @ Uber) and Russell Glass (Former founder/CEO Bizo - acquired by LinkedIn). We are based in San Francisco, but welcome remote team members based in the US. Career Progression

As a professional education company, we are thoughtful about how each role will contribute to the career progression and desires of each individual. A typical candidate will spend 12 to 24 months within this role, and then progress in one of two directions:

  • Build and Lead A Team

    • You will be part of the foundation of the Reforge team. Within 12 to 24 months, build and lead a team of instructors across multiple topics areas.

  • Full Time Instructor

    • Make a career out of helping professional fulfill their potential. There are progression paths internally for those who wish to spend more of their career teaching and coaching with out sacrificing compensation or ownership.

  • Transition Into a Product, Growth, or Data Leadership Role At A Top Tech Company

    • After 12 to 24 months in this role, you will have become a knowledge expert in multiple frontier, high demand topics and seen the leading strategies across a breadth of companies. In addition, one of the best ways to strengthen your leadership skills is to teach. With our network of leading managers, alums, and venture capitalists, we have an inside line to open roles at almost every major tech company and startup and will work with you to get placed at a role of your desire.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver An Engaging Experience

    • Know the material of our programs better than anyone on the team.

    • Be the face and voice for multiple Reforge programs

    • Lead our live sessions which include case studies, expert interviews, peer discussions, and more.

    • Record engaging video material for courses

    • Create and deliver compelling interviews with subject matter experts that draws out unique stories and examples.

  • Facilitate and Coach The Community

    • Facilitate conversations between participants, alumni, and experts at live sessions

    • Engage regularly with the community via Slack, Zoom, forums, Meetups, and trainings

    • Be a primary point of contact and feedback for Reforge members.

  • Create + Improve

    • Be a primary stakeholder to our program development team to help guide improvements and updates to our program offerings.

    • Experiment with new live formats with the goal of continuously improving the engagement and effectiveness of our programs

    • Help design and implement custom versions of our programs for large company customers.

NOTE: The primary role of the instructor is to deliver, facilitate, and coach. Not to create curriculum.

  • Program Research and Creation Team - You'll work closely with our cross-functional program creation team of research leads, designs, and content strategists.

  • Subject Matter Experts - All of our programs integrate a variety of leading practitioners from the world's leading tech companies. You will work with them directly on an engaging experience.

  • World Class Students - Our programs are application only and selective. They attract top performers from the world's leading tech companies.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years in a product, growth, or data function within startups or larger technology companies

  • Experience teaching, presenting, or facilitating groups in

  • You bring a positive and engaging energy to everything you do.

  • Ability to communicate complex topics in simple ways using stories, analogies, and examples.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable and compelling in public speaking situations

  • Intelligent, dedicated, flexible with a willingness to experiment

  • A deep passion and curiosity for defining and spreading the best practices of the frontier of product management
