Team Norms
📍Team purpose
Future Forum enables leaders to redesign work through data and dialogue and to create a people-centric and digital-first future of work. We believe that competitive advantage in this century comes down to people. How you attract and retain diverse talent, how you align them against a common purpose that engages them fully, and how you enable them to act with agility to achieve great things. We believe that sharing of insights, thoughtful deliberations, and mutual dissatisfaction with the status quo will lead to a better way to work. More in our V2MOM.
📋Decision making
We are a fast-growing team and can tend to swarm on everything; this is counterproductive behavior, especially as we grow. There are no little projects - every idea, every message takes some amount of time & context switching even to assess/think about. When it comes to decision making, we focus on proactively planning and reflecting monthly on our overall priorities via our V2MOM, which includes regularly assessing what extra work we ended up taking on.
We commit to offering context, any action required, tagging those involved, and providing deadlines for review cycles. We commit to asking for and distinguishing business critical versus “nice to have” feedback. We commit to asking “what are we dropping or NOT doing” if we’re taking on more work outside of a pre-assigned plan.
We commit to offering an explicit RACI for our core projects and work-streams and those responsible are expected to keep others informed, particularly when there are dependencies or blockers. To address the “swarm tendencies”, we aim to not include the full team on everything. Every project will have a clear owner/DRI who is responsible for arriving at a decision and broadly communicating any relevant rationale or context.
🤝 Rumbling
When it comes to disagreement around our process or points of view, we debate openly using facts and data about the business value or mission and objectives when data is not available.
