PRD for Auth and Permissions Feature at Mutiny
Mutiny is moving on up! Larger customers have requirements that become more significant at a certain size (e.g. authentication, permissions, reporting). We need to understand and resolve the key gaps for the next tier of customers we want to serve. This will be an evergreen track of work (i.e. the larger we go, the more requirements we will need to tackle). This brief is scoped to the next layer ([redacted] employees).
This work is targeted at the top end of who we can realistically close based on core features today. If we need to build completely new product areas or functionality, then they are not a target customer. The target customer will have [redacted] employees. This is above what we can serve today. Examples include X and Y.
X is a large organization who cares about security. They use Okta as their Identity Provider (IdP) to control logins to various tools. They just signed a contract with Mutiny and are eager to rollout access to the Marketing team. First the Director of IT logs into Okta to set up Mutiny as a Service Provider (SP). This generates credentials for Mutiny. Then the Mutiny AE logs into the Mutiny Admin tool to create a Company Invitation and selects SAML as the login method. They send an invitation to the Director of IT so they can set everything up properly. The Director of IT receives the email, clicks through to create their Mutiny account, and navigates to Settings to enter the Okta credentials. The Director of IT then invites relevant members of the Marketing team. A Marketing Manager receives the invitation, clicks to accept, and selects the SAML option on the login screen. They enter their Okta credentials and are directed to Mutiny.
