For the most part, I’ve tried to take the burden of all the user facing and marketing stuff and load all the variables into my head to keep the rest of the team focused. I knew for sure this would be my role. It’s then incumbent upon me to translate all of the user interviews down and to give the team more specific tasks so they don’t have to do as much of a context switch to see the bigger picture.

For my small team at Prefab, we actually created this Venn diagram to make it clear who was going to own what. It made us see which things are 100% one person’s and which things we want to collaborate on, with the goal of having as few things as possible requiring multiple people to be responsible for it.
