Reforge was in rapid growth mode and hired a bunch of people across marketing/product/design/data/engineering to drive up our member growth metrics. These folks also reported to a bunch of different leaders, making it challenging at times to prioritize and share learnings across teams. I created this hub to centralize and democratize access to those learnings. As a result, everyone could learn better and faster who was working on member growth.

I don’t think I’d change much about this for our next hub. I created this based on a similar hub I worked with at Grammarly (my last role before Reforge), which had similar excitement and adoption.

There was a bit of friction to get started because each team had their own process to post their learnings. I tried to make the table itself as easy as possible to add to and read at a glance, and mentioned that folks could always link out to whatever home they had their deeper write-ups. Once a few folks started using this, usage snowballed across the team.

The hypothesis options in the table below were the core hypotheses themes we decided at the top of the quarter to test. While specific experiments may have more nuanced hypotheses when they’re running, the ultimate goal is to prove out the bigger questions we had.

Learning type was key since we were a small startup with limited sample sizes. I really pushed the team to get beyond thinking the only way to test was through AB testing. To move quickly, we needed to broaden our learning approach to include things like before/after analyses, historical investigations, as well as qualitative user feedback.
