When I'm editing, I'll go over it once, then do a full deep-dive a second time in order to make sure that everything’s as perfect as can be before my clients receive their copy. Try to edit in "passes" — don't try to spot all the issues all at once.

This asset serves as a roadmap, helping me prioritize tasks based on their difficulty level. Simple elements like "Clarity & Conciseness" and "Spelling & Grammar" are quickly addressed to establish a solid foundation.

Then, I move on to the more challenging aspects like "Novelty" and "True Desire," dedicating more time and creative energy to these nuanced components. Finally, I tackle the difficult elements like "Industry Verbiage" and "Intellectual Alignment," ensuring that the copy resonates deeply with the target audience. Throughout this process, I maintain open communication with stakeholders throughout this process to manage expectations and deliver a high-quality product.

Simple elements like "Clarity & Conciseness" are straightforward. For example, when I wrote copy for a consumer electronics product, ensuring the language was clear and to the point was a relatively quick task.

Challenging elements such as "Storytelling" and "Emotional Pull" require a deeper level of expertise. When I was crafting a campaign for a luxury travel experience, integrating a compelling narrative and evoking a sense of wanderlust were challenging but crucial for engagement.


Difficult elements like "Industry Verbiage" and "Intellectual Alignment" demand a high level of subject-matter expertise. For instance, when I wrote a whitepaper for a cybersecurity firm, I had to use industry-specific terminology that would resonate with experts, while also making the content accessible for those less familiar with the field.


Different types of content require different priorities. For instance, when I'm writing an SEO blog post, elements like "Topical Command" and "Textual Diversity" take precedence to ensure the content ranks well and appeals to a broad audience.

On the other hand, for an email campaign, "Strong Call to Action" and "Offer Urgency" are often more critical to drive immediate engagement and conversions. While some elements like "Clarity & Conciseness" and "Spelling & Grammar" are universally important, the emphasis on other elements can vary depending on the content's purpose and target audience.

For an Email Campaign, "Strong Call to Action" and "Offer Urgency" are paramount. An email aims to prompt immediate action, so these elements are prioritized to create a sense of immediacy. "Social Approval" in the form of testimonials or user reviews can also be highly effective in this setting.

For more technical and specialized content like whitepapers or industry reports, elements like "Industry Verbiage" and "Intellectual Alignment" are key. These documents are often read by industry experts, so the language and arguments need to be sophisticated and highly specific.

For a blog post, "Topical Command" is crucial because the content needs to establish authority in the subject matter for better search engine ranking. "Textual Diversity" is also important to incorporate various SEO keywords and phrases that potential readers might use in their search queries.
